ABOUT ME

I'm a 2nd-year Health Data Science graduate student at the University of Michigan with a background in biostatistics, machine learning, and software development. I've explored everything from medical imaging research to predictive modelling and web development, always aiming to make a real impact on healthcare. I'm particularly interested in applying AI and statistical methods to address complex health challenges and improve patient outcomes. By combining data science expertise with practical healthcare insights, I love finding new ways to solve problems at the intersection of data, technology, and medicine.

EDUCATION

● Bachelor of Science, Information School, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington, USA

*Major: Informatics (in Biomedical and Health Informatics)

    *Minor: Data Science

    *GPA: 3.7/4.0

    *SEP 2020 - Jun 2024

● Master of Science, Dept. of Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA

   *Major: Health Data Science/Biostatistics

   *AUG 2024 -  present

EXPERIENCE

· Statistical Analyst (Co-first Author)

Project: Global burden of respiratory comorbidities in atopic dermatitis (278 studies, 50+ countries)

1. Performed all statistical methodology; designed and implemented a 3-level hierarchical Bayesian meta-analysis framework borrowing statistical strength across geographic hierarchies (country→region→super-region following Global Burden of Disease structure)

2. Specified informative priors for seven fixed effects, including diagnostic criteria, disease activity measures, and demographic factors; developed a model structure allowing data-driven updating of prior beliefs

3. Built a complete data harmonization pipeline: conducted PRISMA systematic literature review, performed methodological quality assessment using AXIS criteria, standardized heterogeneous effect measures (odds ratios, relative risks, prevalence estimates) across 278 studies

4. Addressed substantial missing data (71.1% of countries without direct evidence) by leveraging hierarchical structure to generate country-level estimates informed by regional and super-regional patterns with appropriate uncertainty propagation

5. Generated actionable estimates: global, regional, and country-specific comorbidity prevalence and odds ratios (asthma OR ≈ 2.73, 95% CrI 2.31-3.24; allergic rhinitis OR ≈ 2.98, 95% CrI 2.47-3.61); conducted sensitivity analyses stratified by diagnostic stringency

· Optimizing Machine Learning Models for Early Diabetes Detection

Developed and optimized machine learning models for early diabetes detection, enhancing PCPP, parallel computing, and dimensionality reduction performance.

· Chinese Portal Hypertension Alliance (CHESS), Institute for AI in Medicine (AIM), School of Artificial Intelligence, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology - Machine Learning Researcher | Research Initiatives in Medical Imaging | Frontend developer

1. Led a team in developing the main page of the CHESS platform: https://chess.nuist.edu.cn/chess/home.

2. Initiated exploration into machine learning applications for predictive medical diagnosis.

3. Focused on addressing the challenges of diagnosing CSPH, a significant issue in the context of portal hypertension in China.

4. Utilizing machine learning and digital image processing to create an automated CSPH diagnosis model.

5. Developed a model capable of non-invasive identification of potential CSPH cases, streamlining the diagnostic process.

6. Successfully trained the model to segment 3D portal and hepatic veins, extracting vascular parameters for CSPH identification.

7. Contributed significantly to advancing non-invasive diagnosis methods for CSPH, demonstrating leadership and technical expertise.

· Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, Remote — Web developer   Oct 2022 - Oct 2022

1. Leader in building a new webpage for the AIM research team at the Nanjing University of Information and Science Technology that faces international users.

2. Researched the intention and information the research team wanted to convey and designed various templates for them to choose from.

3. Designed the whole page (the HTML, CSS, and javascript parts) individually, which satisfied the research team's needs.

· Dept. of Computer Science, University of Washington, Seattle— Undergraduate Research Assistant   Jul 2022 - Oct 2022

1. Label the objects from a racer dataset to help the robot learn and detect.

2. Liaised with researchers nationally and internationally, facilitating joint studies.

3. Processed and summarized data and reported experiment results using software applications or program platforms.
